The luxury events industry is increasingly moving beyond traditional conferences and classroom-style learning, with immersive, destination-led experiences emerging as a new model for professional development and global networking. One of the latest examples of this shift was Flora and Story, a three-day experiential learning journey created by wedding planner and designer Nadia Duran in collaboration with Arabia Weddings, held in the Netherlands from April 27–29, 2026.

Positioned as more than a conventional masterclass, Flora and Story brought together international event professionals, floral designers, and creatives for an immersive exploration of the Dutch floral ecosystem — combining education, travel, gastronomy, cultural immersion, and collaborative design experiences.
Hosted across Amsterdam and the Dutch countryside, the programme gave participants access to private flower farms, greenhouses, hands-on floral workshops, curated dining experiences, and behind-the-scenes visits with some of the Netherlands’ leading floral producers and exporters.

The journey began in Amsterdam during the city’s King’s Day celebrations, where guests boarded a private canal boat styled with 5,000 Spray Roses by VOORN Spray Roses. Over the following days, participants engaged in masterclasses led by internationally recognised industry figures including Tomas De Bruyne, Katya Hutter, and Pascal Matla, while working directly with premium floral varieties sourced from elite Dutch growers and partners.
The experience culminated with private access to tulip fields at FAM Flower Farm, technical visits to hydrangea and orchid producers, and a rooftop farewell dinner overlooking Amsterdam.
However, beyond the visual spectacle and luxury hospitality, Flora and Story reflected a broader industry movement toward experiential education as a tool for business growth, relationship-building, and creative development.

Speaking about the vision behind the initiative, Samar Shawareb, Founder of Arabia Weddings, said the programme was intentionally designed to move away from passive networking and conventional event formats.
“Flora and Story is the ultimate experiential learning initiative we have recently seen. The industry needs new event formats like this, and we plan to build on it to create more industry learning experiences that combine high-end, hands-on masterclasses featuring curated journeys, exclusive site visits, and unique local experiences,” she said.

Shawareb noted that while traditional conferences and B2B meetings remain important within the industry, they often lack the immersive and emotional elements that inspire creative professionals at the highest level.
“Beyond pure inspiration, a shared journey builds significantly stronger, more lasting bonds and authentic relationships among peers. These deep connections are absolutely vital for long-term business development and seamless cross-border expansion,” she added.
The programme also highlighted how experiential formats are increasingly becoming content ecosystems in themselves, particularly in industries driven by aesthetics, storytelling, and digital visibility.

“This holistic approach does two things simultaneously: it radically accelerates professional skill sets through direct exposure and provides an organic, high-aesthetic canvas for content generation. The raw emotion, joy, and collaborative magic captured in our digital lookbooks and Instagram Reels prove that when leaders learn through motion and shared discovery, the impact is unforgettable,” said Shawareb.
For Arabia Weddings and Nadia Duran, Flora and Story marks the beginning of a wider global series aimed at redefining how luxury event professionals learn, collaborate, and expand internationally.

Nadia Duran described the initiative as “education with soul,” focused on bridging the gap between floral production and final event design while giving professionals practical exposure to the luxury floral supply chain.
The success of the inaugural Netherlands edition has already led organisers to announce the next edition of Flora and Story, scheduled to return to the Netherlands from April 27–29, 2027.
