Qatar recorded 1.13 million visitors during the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest figures from Qatar Tourism, highlighting continued momentum in the destination’s tourism sector.

January accounted for the largest share of arrivals, attracting 646,000 visitors, followed by 423,000 in February and 63,000 in March.

The figures come as Qatar prepares for a busy summer tourism season, with the launch of Visit Qatar’s Hala Summer campaign, which runs through September and features entertainment, cultural and sporting events, hotel offers and family-focused experiences.

According to Qatar News Agency, tourism expert Ahmed Hussein said easing regional tensions, efforts to diversify Qatar’s tourism offering and rising overseas travel costs are expected to support both inbound and domestic tourism in the coming months.

Qatar’s summer programme includes the Qatar Toy Festival, concerts, shopping activations and attractions across hotels, resorts and theme parks. More than 100 hotels and resorts are also participating in the Kids Go Free campaign, offering complimentary stays and selected experiences for children accompanied by a paying adult.

The latest figures follow broader growth across the Gulf travel sector. Data from Dragonpass showed passenger volumes across the GCC increased 66.2% month-on-month in May, with Qatar recording the region’s strongest growth in travel demand. Hamad International Airport also registered the highest growth among major GCC airport hubs during the period.

Looking ahead, Qatar’s tourism pipeline includes major developments such as Dugong Adventure World, the country’s first animation-themed edutainment park, alongside new hospitality projects including Rosewood Doha and Kimpton Doha. The destination was also recently named the GCC Capital of Tourism for 2026, with a year-long programme of cultural and tourism events planned across the country.
