Resilience, New Source Markets and Experience-Led Planning Shape UAE MICE

As the regional business events industry continues to adapt to evolving geopolitical and economic conditions, planners across the UAE say the market has remained remarkably resilient. While booking timelines have become shorter and some buyers have taken a more cautious approach to confirming travel, demand continues to be driven by destinations that offer operational reliability, strong connectivity and distinctive visitor experiences. At the same time, emerging source markets, changing delegate expectations and sector-specific opportunities are reshaping how programmes are being designed.

According to Weal Essid, Head of MICE at Masarra DMC, the strongest momentum in RFP pipelines has been coming from Central and Eastern Europe, Southern Europe and key Asian markets including Singapore, Japan and South Korea.

“”The UAE offers operational predictability and the ability to deliver programmes at scale. Reliability and scalability continue to be important factors in destination selection.””

Delegate expectations are also evolving, with planners redesigning programmes around wellbeing and engagement.

“Clients are asking practical questions around reducing waste, sourcing locally, and optimising transport. Sustainability in 2026 is no longer symbolic—it’s embedded in how programmes are designed, he said.

AbdeAli Gulamaliwala, Head – MICE Contracting & Corporate Partnership at Turning Point Tourism, said demand remains strong from the United Kingdom, Eastern Europe and the CIS, particularly for MICE, incentive travel and luxury leisure groups.

Clients are increasingly seeking authentic local experiences, cultural immersion, wellness activities, sustainability-focused programmes and exclusive venues rather than traditional sightseeing schedules. Organisers now prefer shorter but more impactful programmes with integrated networking opportunities, technology-enabled engagement, and optional leisure extensions for delegates and accompanying family members.”

Looking ahead, Gulamaliwala believes sectors such as technology, AI, fintech, healthcare and sustainability will continue to drive demand for conferences, leadership summits and incentive programmes across the region.

Meanwhile, Doruk Onder, Director at Connect Business Events, highlighted South Africa and Türkiye as markets generating increasing interest in the UAE.

“We’re seeing momentum coming from South Africa and Türkiye,” said Onder. “Stronger currencies, increased demand for incentive travel, and innovative new products across the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi, are accelerating interest.”

Onder also noted that destination decisions are increasingly being shaped by corporate stakeholders, with buyers placing greater importance on experiences that deliver measurable business value. Looking ahead, he believes integrated entertainment developments in Ras Al Khaimah could create new opportunities for incentive travel and destination events.

Despite a year marked by changing global conditions, the common thread across industry leaders is clear: the UAE continues to be viewed as a dependable destination that combines operational excellence with innovation and memorable experiences. As buyer priorities evolve, the ability to offer flexibility, authenticity and long-term value is increasingly defining success in the region’s MICE sector.
