EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

As Wynn Al Marjan Island prepares for its 2027 opening, which source markets are you prioritising for leisure, MICE, and incentive travel, and what makes those markets strategically important for the resort?

Given Wynn Al Marjan Island’s strategic location, strong airlift access from Dubai, and the nature of event bookings in the UAE, we expect demand from a wide range of international markets. European and American clients typically plan major events well in advance, with booking windows of 12 to 18 months. In contrast, clients from the GCC, Russia, and India tend to book closer to the event date, usually within one to six months, excluding weddings.

This mix of booking behaviour requires a dual sales approach — one focused on long-term pipeline development and another geared towards short-lead conversions.

Wynn Resorts has a strong legacy in Las Vegas and Macau. How does that translate to confidence for trade partners in a new market?

Wynn Resorts was founded on a singular formula: creating resorts of unique beauty and artistry with an in-house design team whose primary goal is excellence, then staffing them with service-driven professionals whose obsession is creating one-of-a-kind guest experiences.

The results speak for themselves. Wynn Resorts is the most awarded independent hotel company globally by Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Awards. The company has also been named to FORTUNE Magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 18 consecutive years, ranking first in its category for Quality of Products and Services.

That track record is not confined to one market — it spans Las Vegas, Macau, Boston, and now London with Wynn Mayfair. For trade partners, the assurance is straightforward: Wynn Al Marjan Island is built by the same team, to the same standard, with the same operational philosophy. The brand is new to this region, but the expertise behind it is not.

What sets the event experience at Wynn Al Marjan Island apart from other venues in the region?

Three things set us apart.

First, the integrated resort model itself. At most venues in this region, the event is the destination. Here, the event is one part of a much larger experience. Delegates or wedding guests have access to 22 restaurants, a beach club, a spa, a theatre, pools, nightlife, and a marina — all within the same resort. That changes the conversation with planners entirely.

Second, in-house execution. Our banquet team, AV production, floristry, lighting, and event design capabilities are all in-house. This means faster decisions, tighter coordination, and consistent quality. We are not assembling a team of third-party vendors for each event — we are deploying a team that works together every day.

Third, logistics. The resort has a dedicated events entrance with private valet, separate back-of-house routes for seamless transitions, and the capacity to stage VIP arrivals by land, sea, or air. For planners managing complex, multi-day programmes with high-profile guests, that operational infrastructure matters as much as the aesthetics.
