Minor Hotels has announced the signing of Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences in Egypt, marking a major expansion milestone for the hospitality group within the country’s luxury resort and branded residences sector.
Scheduled to open in May 2030, the project will feature 300 hotel keys alongside 150 branded residential units within the Somabay master development on Egypt’s Red Sea coast. The signing further strengthens Minor Hotels’ partnership with Somabay Hotel Company SAE and brings the Anantara brand to one of the region’s most established integrated resort destinations.
Located approximately 45 minutes from Hurghada International Airport, the development is positioned to benefit from strong connectivity to European and Middle Eastern source markets.
The project will include sea-view and lagoon-facing guestrooms, beach and pool villas, branded residences, wellness and leisure facilities, and a range of dining concepts designed to support both short-stay hospitality and long-term residential living.
Amir Golbarg, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels Middle East & Africa, said the project reflects the group’s wider strategy to expand luxury hospitality and branded residences across high-growth destinations in Egypt.

“The signing of Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences reflects our shared commitment to combining expertise and elevating luxury experiences in Egypt. With strong fundamentals and sustained international demand, Somabay is an ideal setting for a fully integrated resort and residential offering.”
